Before we discuss the pros and cons of this, let's establish two things.

I'm saying that because I'm pleading ignorance here.

1. How long have maple bats been used?

2. If they've been used since time out of memory, what is different now that is causing so much of a problem?

According to Wikipedia Maple bats have been used since 1997. Wilson ending up purchasing the company the makes Maple bats in 2005. There doesn't seem to be any info why Maple bats shatter like they do instead of bats made from Ash.

Matt Avatacolla (sp?) apparently is doing a study on them...

that's why Hawk always refers to a broken bat as a "Matt Avatacolla"

If they haven't been around that long, then I say ban them immediately.

Or at the very least suspend their use until the study is complete.

what really hurts is that I can't listen to the radio while watching the game on T.V. - as I watch in HD, the delay is abysmal

That pisses me off also......... the delay is crap............honestly if you combine Pat and Steve Stone like they did in the 2003 playoffs they would be the best announcer team in chicago.....but right now I think I have to give that to Len and Bob

The bats have got to go,period. Time bomb waiting to explode.

Hawk has,does and forever will suck the big one.....he's an embarrassment to the team IMO. I also agree with Dickie that DJ doesn't help things.

Steve Stone can be a know-it-all sometimes but the guy is golden when he's on the air,he belongs calling games. He needs to get back on TV and move DL to radio if you don't want to let him go.
